I admit, I used to enjoy Christmas Eve a lot more then than I do now.
I used to enjoy the fact that there were no games played on this night. No more.
In fact, Christmas Eve 2011 brings us a full slate of NFL games and various college basketball tournaments.
Of course, the NBA season begins the following day.
I do feel for my NBA bretheren who must travel on this day. The only aircraft in the sky tonight will be Santa’s sleigh and the team charters trying to get to their cities before it gets too late.
It’s sad to me but this is the life we have chosen: the entertainment business. Still, it is very depressing for me to think that friends are spending this night in a hotel room far from home, family, and friends.
All of this will be forgotten in a few short hours. The games will begin again, and, before you know it, Christmas 2011 will be over.
Back to the grind.
I hope this finds you well and in a peaceful state. I hope you are home, whatever and wherever that is. Surrounded by those you hold dear.
The world used to stop on Christmas Eve. No more. But I hope you can steal away a few hours of peace and good will.
